  “I was delighted when I gazed out my window overlooking Dongbaek Island and saw the twin masts of the Alabama. She was swaying with the swells coming in the river mouth at Bay 101. I knew there was a story there. I was a "water gypsie" myself for the six years, living on my converted Istanbul Bosphorus ferry and eventually taking her across the Black Sea and up the Danube to Amsterdam. After one wet winter, I headed south to the Canal du Midi. Sailing always offers adventure, companionship and a good tale to tell. Thanks for sharing yours Thomas!”

Thank you also to all the writers who have submitted articles for this and future editions. The magazine would not be possible without your passion and hard work. Finally. thank you to all the people who gave their time to be interviewed or otherwise share their views that help to enrich the content. We hope that the magazine will more and more come to represent the diverse and unique views of all foreign residents of Busan. 

  This summer will be extra special for me and my family. Some South African family members will be visiting Busan, and I will have a blast sharing with them everything that makes this city remarkable. Although one can only experience something for the first time once, showing a first-time tourist around does allow one to vicariously experience the sensations of, for instance, seeing a packed Haeundae Beach for the first time. Come on summer!"

  저와 제 가족들에게 이번 여름은 더 특별할 것입니다. 남아프리카에 있는 가족들이 부산을 방문할 예정이고, 이 도시에 머무른 추억이 잊을 수 없는 좋은 추억이 될 수 있도록 할 것입니다. 첫 경험은 단 한 번 뿐이라 하지만, 처음 이 지역을 방문하는 관광객들에게 관광을 시켜주는 것은 처음으로 붐비는 해운대 해변을 처음 보는 것처럼 떨리는 느낌을 받겠지요. 여름이 어서 오길!”
