‘2023 Eurasia Expedition’, consisting of 89 members including college students from Expo promotion team, Busan city council, businesspeople in Busan, Busan Korean Music Orchestra, Busan college officials (Dong-A Univ., Busan Univ. of Foreign Studies), has successfully toured Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Paris, as its final destination to promote World EXPO 2030 Busan from August 22 to September 3.
The slogan of this grand journey jointly organized by the Busan metropolitan city and Busan Global City Foundation is, ‘To the Plain! To Silk Road! To World EXPO 2030 Busan!’
대학생 엑스포 홍보단, 부산시의회, 부산경제인, 부산시립국악단, 부산지역 대학교 관계자 (동아대, 부산외대) 등 총 89명으로 구성된 ‘2023 유라시아 시민대장정’이 지난 8월 22일부터 9월 3일까지 몽골, 카자흐스탄, 우즈베키스탄 그리고 종착지 프랑스 파리를 방문하여 2030 세계박람회 부산 유치를 위한 홍보활동을 무사히 마치고 돌아왔다.
부산시와 부산글로벌도시재단이 공동으로 주관하는 이번 대장정의 슬로건은 ‘초원길로! 비단길로! 2030 부산 엑스포 유치로!’이다.
With the launch ceremony at Busan Station as the beginning of the grand expedition, the Eurasia Expedition members visited Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, a cooperative city of Busan, Almaty in Kazakhstan, the interchange with which has been more vigorous since the Ukraine War, Tashkent and Samarkand in Uzbekistan, and Paris, France, the hub of the international expositions and where the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) is.
Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia, the first city the Expedition visited, is a city that has had great interactions with Busan since the friendship city MOU in 2016. The Expedition members promoted the World EXPO 2030 Busan and friendship between the two cities by holding a memorial ceremony for the 130th anniversary of the birth of Lee Tae-jun, a Korean independence activist. They also hosted Busan sister village #110 kindergarten events, and the Friends’ Night event for Busan-Ulaanbaatar friendship.
유라시아 시민대장정 대원들은 대장정의 출발을 알리는 부산역 출정식을 시작으로 부산의 우호협력도시인 몽골 울란바토르, 러시아-우크라이나 사태 이후로 더욱 교류가 활발해지고 있는 카자흐스탄 알마티, 우즈베키스탄 타슈켄트·사마르칸트, 마지막으로 세계 박람회의 메카이자 국제박람회기구(BIE)가 있는 프랑스 파리를 차례로 방문했다.
첫 방문 도시인 몽골 울란바토르는 지난 2016년 우호협력 도시 협정을 체결하여 부산과 활발한 교류를 이어나가고 있는 도시로, 대장정 대원들은 울란바토르에서 독립운동가 이태준 열사 탄생 130주년 기념 추모행사, 부산 시스터빌리지 110번 유치원 방문 교류행사, 마지막으로 부산-울란바토르 친선의 밤 행사 개최를 통해 엑스포 유치 도시 부산을 홍보하고 두 도시 간 우호를 증진하는 성과를 거두었다.
In the second city, Almaty, Kazakhstan, a variety of events were held to celebrate the first anniversary of the friendship MOU between Busan and Almaty. Busan Korean Music Orchestra had a music concert for the citizens in Almaty with Almaty Traditional Instrument Orchestra joining together, adding meaning to the moment.
두번째 방문 도시인 카자흐스탄 알마티에선 부산-알마티 우호협력도시 협정체결 1주년을 기념하는 다양한 행사가 개최되었다. 부산시립국악단이 알마티 시민들을 위한 기념 음악회를 개최하였으며, 이 음악회에는 알마티 시립 전통악기 오케스트라도 함께 공연하여 의미를 더했다.
There also was a music concert held for a number of Korean-Kazakhs living in Almaty. Busan Korean Music Orchestra and Korean-Kazakhs artists from Kazakhstan National Goryeo Theatre filled a stage together, creating an unforgettable memory for the local people and Korean-Kazakhs.
알마티 내에 많이 거주 중인 고려인 동포를 위한 음악회도 개최되었다. 부산시립국악단과 카자흐스탄국립고려극장의 고려인 아티스트들이 함께 무대에 올라 현지 교민과 고려인 동포에게 잊을 수 없는 감동을 선사해주었다.
The 4th destination, Samarkand in Uzbekistan, became such a meaningful place for the Expedition members as the Busan-Samarkand Friendship city MOU was signed there. Samarkand is a dazzling city in Uzbekistan; it is the second biggest city and the cultural center of the country. Thanks to the MOU to celebrate the Expedition’s visit, it is highly expected for the two cities to have vigorous economic, cultural and tourism exchanges in the future.
네번째 방문지인 우즈베키스탄 사마르칸트는 대장정 대원들에게도 굉장히 뜻 깊은 곳이었는데, 바로 부산-사마르칸트 우호협력도시 체결식이 개최되었기 때문이다. 사마르칸트는 우즈베키스탄 제2의 도시로서 문화의 수도로 불리고 있는 아름다운 곳이다. 이번 대장정 방문을 기념하기 위해 양 도시의 MOU가 체결된 만큼 앞으로도 경제·문화·관광 등 다양한 분야에서 협력이 기대된다.
During this Expedition, the Expo promotion team, consisting of colleges students, led a tour to renowned colleges and Korean language institutes (Kazakh University of International Relations and World Languages, Samarkand State Institute of Foreign Languages, Tashkent Sejong Hakdang) and had exchange programs with local students making a great contribution to the promotion of the World EXPO 2030 Busan
In Paris, the last stop on the tour, a ‘Busan Day’ event was held, intensifying aspiration for the World EXPO 2030. With around 500 participants including high-ranking government officials from Korea and France, influencers, K-POP cover dance groups from France, and citizens from Paris, the event was rapturously received and complimented by the audience. Visitors were grateful for booths where they could experience the culture of Korea and Busan, by being involved in K-POP cover dance contests, experiencing a Taekwondo Performance by Dong-A University, as well as may other activities.
또한 이번 대장정에는 대학생으로 구성된 엑스포 홍보단이 중심이 되어 중앙아시아 유명 대학 및 한국어 교육기관(알마티 국제관계세계언어대학교, 사마르칸트 국립 외국어대학교, 타슈켄트 세종학당)을 방문, 현지 대학생들과 함께 교류 프로그램을 진행하여 엑스포 후보 도시인 부산의 매력을 알리는데 큰 기여를 했다.
대장정의 마지막을 장식하는 파리에서는 부산데이 행사가 개최되어 엑스포 유치를 향한 열기가 더욱 고조되었다. 이번 행사에는 한국과 프랑스 고위 관계자, 인플루언서, 프랑스 내 K-POP 커버댄스 그룹, 파리 시민 등 약 500여명이 참가한 가운데 한국과 부산의 문화를 체험할 수 있는 다양한 부스 운영, K-POP 커버댄스 경연대회, 동아대학교 태권도팀의 퍼포먼스 등으로 현지 관객들로부터 큰 호응과 찬사를 받았다.
